In this video, I work on a sump pump drain line that kept backing up. The discharge pipe was originally connected to a long stretch of corrugated drain tile buried underground. I couldn’t access the PVC connection point near the house, so I snaked the line from the far end using a sectional drain snake.
After running a long distance, I eventually realized the pipe was collapsed about two feet from the end, which explained the constant drainage issues. I cut the pipe back to the undamaged section and that solved the problem — even though I didn’t capture the full collapse in the video.
💧 Key Issues Covered:
Sump pump drain backing up
Using a sectional snake on corrugated pipe
Diagnosing long-distance clogs
Finding a collapsed pipe near the end
Cutting back and re-burying the pipe for a clean fix
⚠️ If your sump pump keeps cycling or you’ve got standing water in your yard, this is one problem most people don’t think to check.
