A song made famous by its use in many elements of popular culture, notably in the Outlander series.
It tells of the flight of "Bonnie Prince Charlie" to the Isle of Skye after the defeat of the Battle of Culloden in 1746, a battle for Scottish independence that ended in their defeat.
The text is attributed to Sir Harold Boulton, and applied to a traditional tune collected in the 1870s.
