In today’s video, I’ll share highlights from Oregon’s Mount Angel Oktoberfest, a huge annual festival with attendance between 300,000 and 400,000 people.
There’s a lot to see across town, including watching the historic Mount Angel glockenspiel play, checking out food booths, craft vendors, music, a car show, and an enormous kids' area called the Kindergarten.

Mount Angel is about 45 minutes’ drive south of Portland. Its Oktoberfest traditions and occasional German signage around town stem from its German and Swiss roots. In the late 1800s, many settlers from Germany made their homes here, and soon after, monks and nuns from Switzerland set up an abbey and convent.
If you’re lucky enough to find legal street parking, you can park for free, or you can park at a paid lot and walk or take a shuttle.
Visitors are encouraged to wear Bavarian clothing if they’d like. There are a few paid biergartens. Otherwise, most of the festival is free aside from parking and purchases from vendors at the market.
Thanks for joining us at the Mount Angel Oktobefest.
