Five years ago I packed up everything I owned, moved into a truck camper, and drove into the unknown with no backup plan and no guarantee it would work. What started as a leap of faith turned into five years of full-time nomad life, and today I’m celebrating that milestone from inside my 1995 Casita Deluxe. I’ve lived the truck camper life, downsized, rebuilt, weathered storms, upgraded power systems, and learned more about off-grid RV living than I ever expected. The rigs have changed, but the commitment to full-time travel, simple living, and building a life on my own terms has stayed the same.

In this video, I’m tackling something that sounds simple but completely humbled me: washing clothes in a bucket by hand while living off-grid. No laundromat. No hookups. No running water. Just water jugs, soap, and a serious arm workout. This is the unfiltered reality of full-time RV life, and it’s a reminder that minimalist living and tiny space living are not always easy or glamorous.

After five years of full-time camper living, you would think I would have everything dialed in. The truth is I am still learning. Every season of off-grid life brings new challenges, from winter camping and snow storms to solar power upgrades, battery management, diesel heater wiring, fridge repairs, and now hand-washing laundry like it is 1900. Sustainable living and self-reliant travel look dreamy on Instagram and YouTube, but the real growth happens in the uncomfortable moments when you have to problem solve in real time.

Living in a truck camper taught me mobility, extreme minimalism, and how to survive in small spaces. Moving into my 17ft Casita Deluxe pushed me to refine my RV systems, manage power more efficiently, and think long term about off-grid setups. Whether it is solar panels, lithium batteries, charge controllers, or water conservation, full-time RV living is a constant learning curve. Even five years in, I still underestimate projects and discover better ways to do things.

Thank you for being part of this five-year journey. Year six begins with bucket laundry, sore arms, and the reminder that this lifestyle is not about perfection. It is about persistence, growth, and choosing freedom every single day.

If you are researching van life, RV life, truck camper living, off-grid camping, or full-time travel, this video is a realistic look at what year five actually feels like. It is freedom, yes, but it is also work. It is sunrise hikes and mountain views, but it is also scrubbing jeans in a bucket and realizing simple living takes real effort. Growth does not stop just because you hit a milestone. In many ways, it accelerates. Thanks for being here 🤍
