From March 2024 to August 2025, two P42DCs were leased from Amtrak to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) due to a majority of the fleet being out of service from Accidents and Mechanical problems. 33 and 38 were leased for the Piedmont service. 189 and 37 were also cycle in through this period.

In this video, we will go over 38 while it was on the Piedmont between March 2024 to August 2025. Awesome K5LA on the Unit
