Learn how to make rúgbrauð with my easy recipe. Also known as 'hverabrauð' ('hot spring bread') and 'thunder bread', rúgbrauð is Icelandic rye bread that's traditionally baked using geothermal energy. In other words, the bread's buried in the ground near a volcano/around a hot spring and left to slowly cook for hours. We don't have any nearby volcanoes in North London though, so I just used my oven.
