If you’ve worked your way through the Ashtanga Primary Series and are stepping into Second Series (Intermediate Series), you might be surprised to find yourself stuck at the very first pose—Pasasana.
At first glance, Pasasana seems straightforward. Just squat, twist, and bind, right? Not quite. 😅 This posture requires a challenging blend of:
Ankle & hip mobility – If your heels lift off the ground, you know the struggle!
Leg & core strength – Stability is key in this deep squat.
Balance & proprioception – Twisting while staying grounded takes serious control.
For many students, Pasasana is a reality check—a reminder that progress in yoga isn’t just about strength or flexibility, but also about control, patience, and awareness. It’s easy to feel frustrated, but with modifications, mindful progress, and consistency, you can build the foundation you need for this pose.
