James 2:24 is frequently cited by those who reject and oppose the biblical teaching of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It seems that a denial of the teaching of faith alone is a response to the apostates who use grace as a license for sin and iniquity. However, James 2:24 is not speaking about being justified before God, rather, James 2:24 is talking about a person being vindicated when the make the claim to have saving faith. That vindication is done through their works. Faith that does not produce works is useless, dead and demonic. That kind of faith cannot save anyone. True believers are saved by grace through faith and they are free from the curse of the law. However, true faith always produces good works. Jesus said that however believes upon him has eternal life and has passed from death to life. Yet, he also said if you keep my commandments you are truly my disciple. The Bible must be rightly divided and not twisted or wrenched out of context. The Bible is God's Word in every part of the scriptures. False teachers want to bring people under the law because they themselves are suffering under the yoke of sin and want to drag others down with them.
