This video shows you step by step with plenty of close up detail how to prune your upright growing dwarf Japanese maple.
These type of Japanese maples are best pruned before the spring foliage is on the tree.
The tight contorted and very dense branches / limbs are much easier to prune and shape when the stems are bare.
We generally prune all of these types of Japanese maples in late winter when the danger of severe frost has past in our area.
