Materials:
Seeds
1 tray with drain holes
2 trays with no drain holes
Soil
Water sprayer
Scissors
Instructions:
1. Place a tray with drain holes inside a tray without holes. Spread about 1.5 inches of soil in the top tray. Spray the soil with water so that it is very damp.
2. Sprinkle seeds over the soil. Keep a space of at least a seed length between them.
3. Use a finger to gently rub the seeds into the soil. They do not need to be completely covered. Spray the seeds with water.
4. Spray the inside of a new tray with no holes a few times with water. Use the misted tray to cover the soil-filled tray. Place the tray in a warm spot (about 65-75°F).
5. Uncover the tray once or twice a day to spray the seeds about 15-20 times with water. Re-cover the tray after the seeds have been sprayed.
6. Watch for when leaves first start to develop. Permanently uncover the tray one day after the first leaves are spotted. This should be about 3-5 days after planting.
7. Place the tray in a spot where the microgreens will get plenty of light. Pour about ½ inch of water into the bottom tray (the tray that does not have any holes). Continue watering the microgreens as needed. The soil should be wet but not soaking.
8. The microgreens will be ready to harvest 7-15 days after planting. Harvest the microgreens by trimming with scissors.
