Fix a burnt-out brake light, tail light, turn signal, or reverse light on your 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan in under 15 minutes! This step-by-step tutorial shows how to remove the rear tail light assembly (outer unit), access the bulb sockets, replace the faulty bulb, and reinstall everything – no dealership visit required.
The 2017 Tiguan (1st gen, pre-Mk2 full redesign in some markets) uses accessible bulb carriers behind the tail light housing. Common fixes include the dual-filament brake/turn signal bulb.
What you'll need:
Replacement bulbs: Brake/Tail/Turn Signal – 7506 or 1157 (dual filament, check your manual or old bulb); Reverse – 921; Side Marker/Parking – 2825 or similar
Plastic trim removal tool (or flathead screwdriver wrapped in tape to avoid scratches)
Torx T-25 screwdriver (or Phillips in some variants)
Gloves (optional, to keep things clean)
