FOLIAR FEEDING
Surprisingly, plants take in nutrients more efficiently through stomata (plant pores) in their leaves than they do through root uptake. You can give your growing things a quick boost with periodic mists or sprays of natural foliar fertilizers
The other great thing is that foliar spraying stimulates the plants to create exudates in the roots which excite microbes to work harder and thus increases nutrient uptake from the soil. Foliar sprays are a great supplement to boost flavors, sweetness, mineral density and yield from your crops.
1.Moringa Leaf: Liquid Fertilizer or Foliar Spray
Add to 3 litres of water and you have a liquid Moringa fertiliser.
Use 3-4 Small Fresh Moringa branches with stems removed. Add a little water and put into a blender. Mix and strain through a cloth. Add strained liquid to 3 litres of water and use as a liquid Moringa fertiliser or a Moringa foliar spray.
Liquid Moringa Fertilizer goes off within a couple days so make sure you use it as fresh as possible.
Moringa oleifera leaves extract (MLE) is the most natural plant growth enhancer, has no cost and enhance the tolerance of plants under different environmental conditions like drought. ... The decline in soil water actually reduces nutrient ions uptake and nutrient
Simply add 1 tablespoon of Moringa Powder and add to a little water and mix in a blender. If using as a foliar spray you will need to strain through a cloth, or it will block your sprayer. Add to 3 litres of water and you have a liquid Moringa fertiliser. Use 3-4 Small Fresh Moringa branches with stems removed.
4.Calcium Fertilizer: Foliar Feeding With Calcium
To make calcium spray for plants with eggshells, boil 20 eggs in a pan covered with 1 gallon (3.6 kg.) of water. Bring to a rolling boil, then remove from heat and allow to cool for 24 hours. Strain the water of shell fragments and store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Another way to make homemade calcium rich foliar spray is by filling a gallon (3.6 kg.) jar with water and eggshells. Steep for one month, allowing the eggshells to dissolve and filter their essential nutrients into the liquid. To create your calcium foliar spray, mix 1 cup (454 gr.) of the resulting solution with 1 quart (907 gr.) of water and transfer to a spray bottle. This homemade calcium rich foliar spray is also rife with nitrogen and magnesium, phosphorus and collagen, which are all essential nutrients for healthy growth.
2.Potassium Liquid Fertilizer
Wood Ashes as a Natural Source of Potash
A homemade organic fertilizer that minimizes waste and does not involve measuring or combining ingredients is the best of all worlds. The next time you burn wood in your fireplace or fire pit, save the cooled ashes to use as a natural potassium fertilizer for your landscape.
Wood ash is a great source of potassium and can be great for fruiting plants. Unfortunately, if you make a feed with wood ash and water alone then the result would be strongly alkaline. This can be an option for amending soil pH in very acidic soil areas. Fortunately, for those who do not want to amend pH so extremely, there are various options for making this mix more acidic.
3. BANANA PEEL LIQUID FERTILIZER
This means potassium-rich banana peels are excellent for plants like tomatoes, peppers or flowers. Banana peels also contain calcium, which prevents blossom end rot in tomatoes
Banana peels and water are all you need to make these simple fertilizers.
Banana peel is such a treat for plants, especially roses. They're packed with potassium, phosphorus and calcium. You can make a banana peel fertilizer in a few different ways.
Banana peel tea:
Soak two to three banana skins in roughly 600ml of water for a few days. The minerals will leach into the water, which you can then use as it is for your plants, with no need to dilute. Give the soaked peels to your worms or put it in the compost.
