Bedside Rounds vs Table Rounds - Which Is Better?

Описание: What is the best way to lead your academic team as a senior or attending? Bedside rounds or table rounds? Bedside rounding with the patients have really fallen by the wayside in recent years, but is this really deserved? Table rounding is frequently preferred by residents due to perceived efficiency. However, in this video I want to argue for some reasons that bedside rounding might actually be superior to table rounding. In particular, bedside rounds in the hospital are actually shown in the evidence and literature to be MORE efficient than table rounds, keeps everyone on the same page, enhances learning for medical students and residents, improves patient satisfaction, increases time with patients, reduces number of pages from nurses, and overall provides a better experience for everyone involved. But there are definitely a few caveats, and a few things you need to make sure to get right in order to make bedside rounds work, otherwise you might run the risk of holding the kind of bedside rounds that medical students and residents dread around the country.
