1986 Commonwealth Games held in Scotland (rowing at Strathclyde Park)
Mens eights final.
Videoed from BBC coverage at the time and has been on a VHS tape for 34 years!
The lake get quite wide in the middle 100m and the cross tail wind blowing from the camera sides made conditions very tricky. Especially in the far lanes, where you can see lots of water breaking on the New Zealanders riggers. Having said that the Australians rowed with big circles at the finish which meant they coped well with the waves.
The Australian eight went onto to win the World Championships in 1986.
