Описание: WATCHMEN 3. "Where is the essence that was so divine?" The slogan for Nostalgia, a perfume. We'll see Nostalgia as continuing motif popping up throughout the series. And how true it is, all these people trying to get back to a time when things "were better", before it all fell to shit. The newspaper vendor is the voice on the street, worrying about the looming World War 3, passing his opinions and the fear-laden headlines out to passersby. This issue also is our introduction to The Black Freighter, a comic book story that masterfully runs parallel to the main one. It's about a shipwrecked sailor who desperately wants to get back home and warn folks of the coming Black Freighter and the certain doom it brings to them all. We'll see in future issues, the sailor does some morally questionable and even mad things, all in an attempt to get back home... to that essence so divine. Also, Dr Manhattan, with his powers of a god, is maneuvered out of the picture in this issue... the people who were close to him in the past have died or are dying of cancer, implying Manhattan was the cause. So he leaves and goes to Mars. The man who is no longer a man is now without a home or a people. What does he have to go back to? Why should a god even care?

This issue begins the ramping up of general war hysteria, fear of loss, loss of control. As a product of the 80s, these were prominent feelings of the day. Russia, the Cold War, nukes, and potential Armageddon right around the corner. How do we get back to before, how do we put the genie back in the bottle? Can we?
