Time to dig out from the snow. Be careful to not hurt yourself or your grass.
Many falls and heart attacks occur after a snowfall sending people to the hospital. Shovelling can be a tough job. Doing it incorrectly can be tough on your grass, too.
Throwing a pile of snow itself onto your lawn is fine. But often, salt has been spread on the paved surface before it snowed. Or, salty road slush from cars drops onto driveways. Shovelling piles of that salt along the side edge of the driveway can allow grass roots to be damaged once the salt soaks into the soil.
Grass along driveways already gets abused by people frequently walking on it, even driving on it. Dont make it more of a challenge by adding salt. The grass between the street and sidewalk get no respect either. But it does get lots of salt shoveled off the sidewalk and splashed from the street.
Push your snow out to the street whenever possible, not on your grass. If you have the use ice melt, do it sparingly and consider options to salt such as Calcium Chloride an Magnesium Chloride.
