Majnu-ka-tilla is a Tibetian colony in Delhi, India that was established around 1950. It is part of North Delhi district and is located at the bank of the Yamuna River near ISBT Kashmiri Gate.
Officially known as New Aruna Nagar, it is home to nearly 3,500 Tibetan refugees nestled in a corner in North Delhi. For most of them, the way home is not the way back.
The migration of Tibetans to India happened in 3 stages. One, after the Tibetan Uprising of 1959 and Dalai Lama's exile to Dharamsala, second when China opened Tibet to foreigners, the third in 1996 which still continues.
Also known as the Little Tibet due to asian cuisines,south east asian clothings collections,monastries,religious relics avilable here and also it is in itself a unique place in Delhi capity city of India .
