Filmed in Kivu Province, Congo, this documentary presents various aspects of the relief action undertaken in March 1962 to assist some 60,000 Tutsi refugees who sought asylum there after fleeing Rwanda in December 1961. The film discusses why the Tutsi refugees fled Rwanda, and shows the resettlement of refugees on land made available to them by the Congolese Government: clearing; planting; construction of huts in a new village named Bibwe; distribution of food and seeds.
