The Ladakh administration is gearing up to welcome the holy relics of the Buddha to the Union Territory of Ladakh on May 1.
A week-long programme will be organised ahead of the arrival of the relics. Special prayers will be held at various monasteries, and a cleanliness drive in Leh town will begin from April 15.
The exposition of the Buddha relics will be held at Jevetsal.
The administration will also make a requisition to the Ministry of Culture to keep the relics in Ladakh for one month; however, confirmation on the acceptance of this request is still awaited.
The meeting also discussed inviting Buddhist countries to Ladakh to promote spiritual tourism. In addition, plans to organise seminars on interfaith dialogue were also deliberated.
