Drapers Gardens is an English Country Dance first published in Playford's Dancing Master of 1706 and adapted by Bernard Bentley. Found in "The Playford Ball". It is a proper duple minor longways dance.
Playford published a tune with this dance but Bentley chose to use a different one, "The Margravine's Waltz", published in Preston in 1799. It was performed by Bare Necessities (Earl Gaddis, Mary Lea, Peter Barnes, and Jacqueline Schwab) on the album "Simple Pleasures". The animation plays at 115 counts per minute, but the first time through the set the dance is slowed down so people can learn the figures more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color will change each time through the minor set.
