It doesn't take long to get out of the city in Tamale, Ghana. Village life is within a 20-25 minute drive from the central Chief's Palace. This drive is going from the Vittin area to a village area called Zoo, just off the road to Yendi.
But Tamale is not just a town. It's a growing, modernizing city and Ghana's 3rd largest. When I was here in 2003 I remember I main paved road and a lot of dirt.
