Making perfume: WHAT MAKES A PERFUME LAST LONGER?

Описание: Can we fix it? - Can we make the fragrance we want and make it last all day?
Fixatives - plant, animal, & synthetic - have been used for thousands of years in perfumery, from Styrax to Ambrox, Ambergris to Iso E Super. They help your fragrance to last longer, but they can have other superpowers too.

What are they for? How do you treat them? What do you need to change your fragrances' behaviour?

This is in answer to a request, but there is no magical instant fix to make all perfumes smell the way you want and last all day. Sometimes it happens when you use a new combination of materials. Sometimes it doesn't. But there are some useful ways.

Experimenting is the way to find long-lasting materials, if that’s what you’re looking for. Maybe it’ll be the materials you expect or maybe the ones you expect least. Get your tester sticks out, if the aroma lasts 10 minutes or more on the paper, it’s likely to be a good fixative but will it work in your formula to make the final fragrance you imagined? Will it knock it off track? Or could you end up with an even better one?
