On my birthday, September 4, 2025, was the official release of the 2026 Honda Prelude in Japan. I got the chance to see this all-new 2026 Honda Prelude, and it brought back so many memories. My very first car was a 1993 Honda Prelude, and to this day, it remains one of my favorite cars of all time. I’ve owned Hondas, Acuras, Hyundais, and GMs, but nothing ever compared to the emotion and connection I felt with that Prelude.

The Honda Prelude 2026 marks the official return of one of Honda’s most iconic sports coupes. This hybrid coupe blends nostalgia with innovation, combining Honda’s proven engineering with a modern hybrid powertrain. From the early days of four-wheel steering and VTEC engines to today’s electrified future, the Prelude is back to reclaim its place as a fan favorite. Unfortunately, the 2026 Honda Prelude will not have a VTEC engine. Instead, it uses a hybrid-electric powertrain with two motors, similar to the Civic Hybrid. While it replaces the traditional VTEC technology of past models, the Prelude is designed to be engaging and efficient, incorporating a new "Honda S+ Shift" system to provide a performance-oriented driving feel.


What to know about the 2026 Prelude's powertrain:

Hybrid-Electric System: The new Prelude features a two-motor hybrid-electric system, with a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine and two electric motors.
Performance: This powertrain delivers 200 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque, matching the output of the fifth-generation Prelude's high-revving VTEC engine but with significantly more torque.
Honda S+ Shift: To enhance driver engagement, the Prelude includes a new "Honda S+ Shift" system that simulates performance gear changes, including rev-matching on downshifts.
Civic Type R Inspiration: The Prelude also utilizes suspension and braking components from the Civic Type R, further contributing to its sporty character.


Even though our channel is usually about travel, nightlife, and entertainment, I’ve always been a car guy at heart. This is a special one-off video for one of my all-time favorite cars—the Honda Prelude.
