This is Episode 23 of my Bible in a Year journey, moving through Exodus 14 — where deliverance becomes irreversible.
Israel has left Egypt.
Freedom has been declared.
The journey has begun.
And almost immediately, it feels threatened.
Exodus 14 opens with tension. God leads the people into a place that looks exposed — the sea ahead, Pharaoh behind. What seemed finished suddenly feels unfinished.
Power rarely accepts loss quietly.
Pharaoh’s pursuit is not confusion, but regret. Control has slipped, and the system moves to reclaim it. Chariots follow. Fear rises.
Israel panics.
Celebration collapses into accusation.
The past, brutal as it was, begins to feel safer than uncertainty.
Moses does not offer strategy.
“Stand firm.”
“Be still.”
“The Lord will fight for you.”
Before the sea parts, God moves first. The pillar shifts. Light and darkness divide. Only then does the way open.
The crossing is described without drama — just obedience, step by step, through ground that should not exist. Deliverance unfolds while they are moving, not before.
When the waters return, power does not retreat.
It ends.
Exodus 14 closes with a change in fear. The people no longer fear Pharaoh — they fear the Lord. Trust begins to form, not around signs, but around who God has shown Himself to be.
This episode stays with the crossing — where freedom stops being an idea and becomes a direction you walk in.
I’m walking through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation over the course of this year — reading carefully, reflecting honestly, and letting Scripture speak before interpretation takes over. These videos are free and public.
