🏭 Once a giant of the North West, Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station now stands silent.
📍 Captured by drone on 15th August 2025, these last cooling towers tell the story of a landmark fading into history.
Opened in 1971, Fiddler’s Ferry was once one of the UK’s most powerful coal-fired stations, generating electricity for over 2 million homes at its peak. Its eight cooling towers, rising to 114m, became a landmark seen as far as the Pennines and Peak District.
After nearly 50 years of service, the station was officially closed in 2020 as the UK began phasing out coal. In December 2023, four of its towers were demolished, leaving only four standing today.
