Newcastle and Gateshead has so many well-known cafes and bars with diners and drinkers spoiled for choice. And there are also some hidden gems spotted around Tyneside.
From the quirky Cafe Under The Spire nestled inside of St. Cuthbert's Church, to the Canny Goat tucked away in a far corner of Monk street near Blackfriars, there are plenty of spots that even those who know the city like the back of their hand may not know about.
Among the other hidden gems to be discovered are Heaton's Elder Beer Cafe, which doubles as a a bottle shop with a large selection of craft ales and natural wines, and Llosi's on the banks of the River Tyne, with Italian recipes passed down generations.
