Trump says combat operations against Iran will continue until objectives are achieved

U.S. President Donald Trump uploaded a video on Truth Social, saying Washington will continue its operations against Iran and avenge the three U.S. service members who were killed during the fighting.

U.S. President Donald Trump has said that combat operations in Iran were continuing in full force, and that they would carry on until all of Washington's objectives are achieved.
He posted a six-minute video on Truth Social on Sunday, U.S. local time, where he said quote, the "largest, most complex, and most overwhelming military offensives, " Operation Epic Fury has been launched for over the past 36 hours.
Trump also confirmed Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's death, and urged the Iranian military to lay down their weapons, and citizens to take action.

"I once again urge the Revolutionary Guard, the Iranian military and police to lay down your arms and receive full immunity or face certain death. I call upon all Iranian patriots who yearn for freedom to seize this moment, to be brave, be bold, be heroic, and take back your country."

Trump expressed his condolences for the three U.S. soldiers killed during the operations, and added there could likely be more.

"But America will avenge their deaths and deliver the most punishing blow to the terrorists who have waged war against, basically, civilization."

Trump also said during an interview with the Atlantic magazine on Sunday that Iran's new leadership have agreed to talks, and he agreed to do so too.
He also told Fox News, that 48 leaders have been killed in the strikes and told CNBC that U.S. military operations in Iran are “ahead of schedule”.
Regarding the ongoing strikes on Iran, top Trump administration officials are reportedly going to brief both chambers of Congress on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Iran has formed a three-member interim leadership to handle state duties, consisting of a member of the constitutional watchdog, the President, and the Supreme Court Chief Justice.
According to the Iranian Constitution, the interim council will govern the country until the Assembly of Experts chooses a new supreme leader.
In terms of Iran's next potential leader, Trump said during a phone interview with the New York Times on Sunday that there could be three options.
He did not say who they are though, adding that things that need to be done should be done first.
