On September 5th, 2018, family and friends of Martha Robin Freitag contacted Akron police to report her missing. Robin’s daughter revealed that no one had heard from her in several weeks and expressed growing fears that something might have happened to her. She also voiced concerns about Robin’s on and off partner, David Callaghan, suggesting his potential involvement due to the contentious nature of their relationship. Robin had also struggled with mental health issues, further raising alarm among her loved ones.
Police visited Robin’s residence multiple times but were unable to locate her. On September 7th, officers returned to the home and managed to speak with David Callaghan, an interaction that was captured on bodycam footage.
