The REAL Cuba: In Their Voices

Описание: Cuba is more than just a place that's whimsical because it looks like it's stuck in a time capsule. It actually IS stuck in time, in the 1950's to be exact, and not in a good way. When Fidel and Che took over and turned the country to Communism, the US created an embargo, and all imports were stopped. This makes it impossible for locals to get adequate food and supplies, and thus, a low chance of success for entrepreneurs.

But times are changing and the artists and entrepreneurs are becoming the new Revolution. I traveled back to Cuba recently, and met several young artists and entrepreneurs, and their Stories were so powerful, that I had to share it.

The overall message: they might not have much, but they are fighters, and they are using the arts to break free of suppression.

As a Cuban-America, with grandparents who were all born in Cuba, this country holds a special place in my heart. It pains me that the locals, especially the youth, must still be tortured by the gov this way. I hope to raise awareness, shed light on the subject, in hopes enough people talk about it and their government AND the U.S. government finally does something about lifting the embargo, and transitioning to a democracy.
