The Agriculture Department's audit has revealed various irregularities under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), including insuring land that was not cultivated, insuring more area than the actual cultivated land, and issuing multiple insurance policies for the same area. It appears that mistakes made by customer service centers while processing farmers' applications led to this confusion. The administration has issued a warning to be cautious while making records, failing which, action will be taken.

This year, during the Kharif season, 81,623 farmers participated in the PMFBY, insuring onion crops on 46,687 hectares of land. It was reported that a fraud had occurred in the Malegaon taluka, where fake crop insurance was shown for 500 hectares, leading to a scam. However, after verification, the Agriculture Department claims that no such fraud took place, and in fact, government funds were saved due to the inspection. In the district, Oriental Insurance Company has been authorized for the PMFBY. The insured sum for onion crops is ₹81,422 per hectare, with a premium of ₹10,593. The state government provides the insurance benefits to farmers for just ₹1, with the rest of the amount being paid by the government.

The Agriculture Commissioner has instructed the verification of insured areas for onion crops. Upon checking, discrepancies were found in the insurance of 3,670 hectares. Of these, 2,025 hectares showed no onion crops, while 1,503 hectares had more area insured than the actual cultivated area. In 50 hectares, the same land was insured more than once. Additionally, discrepancies were found in 92 hectares where the land records did not match, or the group number had changed. For this 3,670-hectare insured area, the government would have had to pay ₹3.88 crore to the insurance company. Thanks to the verification campaign conducted by the Agriculture Department, savings were made from the premium amounts that would have been paid for areas where no onion crops were grown.

लागवड केलेली नसताना विमा काढणे, लागवड क्षेत्रापेक्षा अधिकचे क्षेत्र संरक्षित करणे, एकाच क्षेत्रावर दोन किंवा अधिकवेळा विमा उतरवणे असे प्रकार प्रधानमंत्री पीक विमा योजनेत घडल्याचे कृषी विभागाच्या पडताळणीत उघड झाले आहे. ग्राहक सेवा केंद्रांनी शेतकऱ्यांचे अर्ज भरताना केलेल्या चुकांमुळे हा गोंधळ झाल्याचे दिसत असून नोंदी करताना दक्षता घ्यावी, अन्यथा कारवाईचा इशारा प्रशासनाने दिला आहे.

यावर्षी खरीप हंगामात प्रधानमंत्री पीक विमा योजनेत ८१ हजार ६२३ उत्पादकांनी सहभागी होऊन ४६,६८७ हेक्टर क्षेत्रावर कांदा पिकाचा विमा उतरवला आहे. मालेगाव तालुक्यात ५०० हेक्टर क्षेत्रात बनावट पीक विमा दाखवून शासनाला गंडा घातला गेल्याचे सांगितले जात होते. तथापि, तसे काही घडले नसून उलट पडताळणीमुळे शासकीय निधीत बचत झाल्याचा दावा कृषी विभागाकडून केला जात आहे. जिल्ह्यात प्रधानमंत्री पीक विमा योजनेंतर्गत ओरिएंटल इन्शुरन्स कंपनी यांना प्राधिकृत केले आहे. कांदा पिकासाठी हेक्टरी विमा संरक्षित रक्कम ८१ हजार ४२२ रुपये आहे. त्यासाठी १० हजार ५९३ रुपये इतका हप्ता आहे. राज्यात शासनाने शेतकऱ्याला एक रुपये भरून विमा योजनेचा लाभ दिला आहे. शेतकऱ्यांच्या हिश्याची रक्कम शासन भरते. कांदा पीक विमा उतरवणाऱ्या क्षेत्राची पडताळणी करण्याचे निर्देश कृषी आयुक्तालयाकडून दिले गेले होते. यामध्ये ३६७० हेक्टर क्षेत्रावरील विमा उतरवलेल्या क्षेत्रात तफावत आढळली. यातील २०२५ हेक्टर क्षेत्रात कांदा पीक आढळून आले नाही. १५०३ हेक्टर क्षेत्रात लागवड क्षेत्रापेक्षा जास्त क्षेत्र संरक्षित करण्यात आले होते. एकाच क्षेत्रावर दोनपेक्षा अधिक वेळा विमा उतरवलेले ५० हेक्टरपर्यंत क्षेत्र असल्याचे निष्पन्न झाले. सातबारा नसलेल्या, गट क्रमांकात बदल असलेल्या ९२ हेक्टर क्षेत्रात तफावत आढळली. या ३६७० हेक्टर क्षेत्रावरील विम्यासाठी शासनाला तीन कोटी ८८ लाख रुपये विमा कंपनीला भरावे लागले असते. जिल्ह्यात कृषी विभागाने राबविलेल्या पडताळणी मोहिमेमुळे कांद्याची लागवड न केलेल्या ३६७० हेक्टर क्षेत्रावरील विमा हप्त्यापोटी जमा करावयाच्या रकमेची बचत झाली.
