STORYLINE:
Dozens of aid trucks entered Gaza through Rafah crossing Thursday morning, amid international pressure for Israel to allow more humanitarian supplies into the besieged enclave.

The trucks were seen passing the crossing and heading to the United Nations depot in Rafah, Gaza’s most southern city, where they were offloaded.

Amongst the supplies were tinned vegetables and baby products.

Israel promised the U.S. it would dramatically ramp up aid to Gaza in exchange for continued American support for the war, saying last week it would open another crossing and surge more trucks into the besieged enclave than ever before.

Over the last few days, U.N. workers said there’s been only a slight increase in the aid making it into Gaza.

Before the war, 500 trucks carrying food, fuel and other supplies entered Gaza daily.

After initially sealing Gaza’s borders in the early days of the war, Israel began permitting entry of humanitarian supplies — but the number of trucks arriving remains below the pre-war average.
