Today I’m showing you a pruning technique called “tipping” on my 3 year old "Juicy Peach" mango tree.
Mangos can be very large trees and get out of control if left unpruned. Mango tipping makes the tree’s shoots produce multiple buds and branches, keeping the tree nice and short so you can get to all those delicious mangos!
The three to four branches that are produced after the first cut should be allowed to grow about 10-12 inches and then cut again once they have hardened off (that's where the leaves are no longer light green and soft like in the video below, but are darker in color).
