Join me as I take a slight detour off the Pennine Way, beyond the Snake pass, on the A57 just outside of Glossop in Derbyshire.
In November of 1948 a B29 super fortress Reconnaissance aircraft known as the ‘Over Exposed’ took off from RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire, heading for RAF Burntwood, near Warrington.
Unfortunately the trip was to end in tragedy as the aircraft ploughed into Shelf Moor on Bleaklow in low cloud, in Derbyshire’s Peak District.
I take a hike briefly following The Pennine Way, before turning off in search of the crash site, where parts of wreckage can still be found today.
A moving place, join me as I explore the site, and take in the beautiful views of the surrounding area.
A beautiful but tragic place too.
Thanks for stopping by, please leave any comments, as ever I will always endeavour to get back to you. Be great to have you along for any future hikes/ camps and adventures - please subscribe to join me.
Thanks again
