Since the murder of drummer Lee Rigby in June by pair of men claiming to be Islamic fundamentalists, many people have percieved a rise in Islamophobic attacks in Britain, being penalised in a backlash following the killing. However, one person who has not been very vocal on this topic has been the Mayor of London Boris Johnson whose office had repeatedly failed to reply to questioning over the rise of islamophobic attacks. Now, though, it seems that Boris has finally conceded that islamophobia is becoming a real problem.
Joining host Jonathan Steele in the studio is Massoud Shadjareh from the Islamic Human Rights Commission, Mohammed Amin, deputy chair of the Muslim Conservative Forum and by skype, Amani El Sehrawey, caseworker at Tell MAMA, an organisation dedicated to recording islamophobia in the UK.
