I tried 4 different print on demand options for my first book, Leafs Library. Here's how they stack up:
Quality:
1. Bookvault
2. KDP (Amazon)
3. Ingramspark
4. Barnes and noble
Ease of use:
1. KDP (Amazon)
2. Book Vault
3. Barnes and noble
4. Ingram spark.
Specific issues:
Bookvault: print fine, book listing issues (seems to have failed to list to Ingram or update after first listing).
KDP: white bar in the gutter so full page spreads have noticeable white in the middle.
Barnes and Noble: very long print time, very light black.
Ingram: very light blacks, slow and unhelpful customer service and slow approval.
Standout features:
Bookvault: Great print quality. thick paper. (at least on the thicker, UK only options).
KDP: very fast print times. Upload and order a proof within a couple hours, get proof within a week.
Barnes and Noble: Nice looking UI.
Ingram: Um, in principle easiest for bookstores to buy from, if you are okay with their subpar printing (even on their ultra premium color, which is what I used!)
