The “Bad” single and short film solidified Michael Jackson's edgier, street-smart solo image. The highly stylized 18-minute short film was directed by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese and co-starred a then-unknown Wesley Snipes. Filmed over six weeks in a Brooklyn subway station, the cinematic production drew heavy inspiration from the classic musical West Side Story and went on to win Favorite Single (Soul/R&B) at the American Music Awards.
