OLL, or Orientation of the Last Layer, is the third step in the CFOP speedcubing method for solving a 3x3 Rubik's Cube.🤟
It is performed after completing the first two layers (F2L) and involves using algorithms to orient all the last layer pieces so the top face is a solid color. ☘️
Full OLL algorithms🍃🍃
For competitive speedcubers aiming for faster times, full OLL requires memorizing 57 distinct algorithms to solve the last layer's orientation in a single step.
This eliminates the need for an intermediate step to build the cross.
Full OLL algorithms are organized into groups based on the visual pattern (or shape) of the yellow stickers on the top face.🩵
Some of the main pattern groups include:
😍Crosses: Cases where the last-layer edges are already oriented correctly.
😘Dots: Cases where no last-layer edges are oriented correctly.
😋L-Shapes: Cases that form an "L" on the top layer.
🍋T-Shapes: Cases that form a "T" on the top layer.
🐒Fish Shapes: Cases that resemble a fish with a tail and fin.
🥦Knight Move Shapes: Cases with corners oriented in a knight's move pattern.
🍝Lightning Bolts: Cases that form a zig-zag shape.
