Theme: Emotional Versus Intentional Spendings

Text: Proverbs 21:20

“There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.”

Wealth is not destroyed only by lack of income; it is often destroyed by lack of control. One of the fastest ways to remain poor in the midst of plenty is emotional spending.

🔹 Emotional spending is driven by feelings—anger, excitement, jealousy, pressure, comparison, or depression.
🔹 Intentional spending is driven by purpose, planning, discipline, and long-term vision.

Key Wealth Truths:

1️⃣ There must be a hierarchy of spending
Not all expenses are equal. Some are urgent, some are important, and some are completely unnecessary. Wise people arrange their spending in order of value and impact.

2️⃣ Have clear priorities for your money
If money is not directed, it will disappear. Rent, food, investment, savings, skills, and responsibilities must come before pleasure, trends, and competition.

3️⃣ Buy your needs, not your wants
Needs preserve life and future. Wants only satisfy the moment. Wealth grows when needs are honored and wants are controlled.

4️⃣ Emotional spenders don’t build wealth
Have you ever seen a jealous spender, a competition-driven buyer, or a pressure spender that is truly wealthy? Wealth does not answer emotions; it answers discipline.
