Bengaluru Police Seize Drugs Worth Rs 24 Crore, Arrest Foreign Woman Peddler

Описание: In a major crackdown ahead of New Year celebrations, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police in Bengaluru seized drugs worth Rs 24 crore. The operation, conducted near KR Puram’s T Chikkana Palya, resulted in the confiscation of 12 kg of MDMA, a high-value synthetic drug, and the arrest of a foreign woman suspected of operating the supply chain.

According to the CCB Narcotics Control Squad, the accused, a foreign national, was residing in TC Palya under the KR Puram police station limits and had been running a shop catering to foreign nationals. However, under the guise of selling food products, she was allegedly engaged in peddling narcotics. Acting on credible information received on December 13, the CCB team raided the location and apprehended her.

The bust also revealed the complexity of the network, as 70 Airtel SIM cards were seized alongside the drugs and a mobile phone, raising suspicions about a wider operation involving multiple accomplices. While the arrested woman remains in judicial custody, the primary supplier, the African-origin woman in Mumbai, has managed to evade authorities. “Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the main supplier,” police officials said.

The seized drugs include 12 kg of MDMA crystals in both yellow and white variants, with their estimated value pegged at Rs 24 crore. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act and the Foreigners Act at KR Puram Police Station.

The CCB has intensified its efforts to curb the narcotics trade in Bengaluru, particularly ahead of festive periods when demand surges. The operation highlights the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies to dismantle such networks and prevent illegal substances from flooding the city.

The arrested woman was presented before the court, which remanded her to judicial custody. Further investigations are ongoing to identify other links in the network and determine the origins of the seized drugs.
