Farming in India is a risk. Between rain and rate, farmers are trapped.
This film takes you to Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, where maize farmer Gajendra struggles through a season of extreme rainfall, waterlogged fields, and falling mandi prices. Once a soybean-growing belt, the region shifted to maize in search of better returns and price security linked to MSP. Instead, farmers now face low yields, volatile markets, and little assurance of procurement.
Through Gajendra’s 40-acre farm and conversations at the mandi, this film traces how farmers make high-stakes decisions with little data and no safety net. What to grow? How much to invest? When to sell? And at what cost?
This is a ground-level look at India’s farming dilemma, climate uncertainty, MSP failures and agricultural market volatility. A story of risk, survival, and the tough choices farmers are forced to make every season, caught between rain and rate.
