Mount Wilson Observatory Trail - Eaton Canyon & Idlehour Trail Loop

Описание: I decided to do a trip up to Mount Wilson since it recently started cooling down. I started at Eaton Canyon near the Pinecrest Gate and made my way up Mount Wilson Toll Road. I topped my water off at Henninger Flats and made my way up the fire road and the short section of trail at the end to the Summit. I was hoping that the Cosmic Cafe would be open, but unfortunately I made it up too quickly. I had a snack there and went to check out the observatory area. I had the astronomy museum and the telescope spots to myself although I did see others coming from them. When I was finished with that I jogged down to the Eaton Saddle trail along Mt Wilson Red Box Rd. I went through the Mueller Tunnel, and skipping the spots I live to visit on this route (San Gabriel Peak, Mount Lowe, and Inspiration Point), I went to Idlehour Trail to hang out with some people who were camping in the area. I wish I had brought my backpacking stuff to be honest. I still hung out for 3.5-4 hours even though I was planning on stopping for 0.5-1 hour initially. It was a good time. I thankful to have been invited and for the tortillas and beans people provided for the quesadilla (I brought the cheese). I did a quick cold plunge before heading back to where I parked. The city lights were great when I came back. I'm happy I spent the time to hang out as I don't normally head down this late when I do this sort of thing. The sunset was amazing and I saw some deer resting near Henninger. The light was on in the old visitor center too, which was neat. I'm not sure the extent to which it's in use.

FYI: I explore a lot and stumble upon many different things. The way I go about sharing locations is that if someone tells me to keep a spot secret before I wind up finding it on my own, I keep those spots secret. Otherwise, I share information at my own discretion because I like sharing what I find. I may take things down, obscure locations, or remove data upon request as I have done in the past, but a lot of the places I visit are less well known (because I'm exploring), so I could potentially be removing everything if I did things the other way around, which I don't want to do.

If there is a spot you'd like me to keep secret (if I find it), let me know BEFORE. I change my mind about what I keep secret on my own, but if we talk, I am much less likely to jeopardize my integrity than change my mind. There are a few secrets I don't share with people because I agree to keep these spots on the down low (even when I have heard about them through different parties before visiting).
