✓ On our previous visit to Leicester (for the Leicester Mela) we were more than a little disappointed to find that Bobby's Restaurant were temporarily closed for full a refit, the good is that they have now since reopened with a great new look, the place has been completely transformed by way of a georgeous new interior refit.
Bobby's is one of Leicester's "Golden Mile" restaurant's that seems to have "always been there" and it turns out to be that "they always been there" because they have been here since 1976......they must be doing something right to be going strong after an incredible 43 years, so it's very much long overdue that we finally paid them a visit.
They specialise in serving up authentic Gujarati home cooked style pure vegetarian cuisine.
Anyway back to the video, in this video we are privilaged to visit "behind the scenes" in the kitchen where Master Cook & Chef Dipak kindly shows and reveals some the recipe secrets of how he makes his versions of some classic Gujarati dishes.

Bobby's is one of Leicester's Golden Mile's "not so Secret Desi food places" (the Golden Mile stretches from Belgrave Road all the way up to Melton Road) call it Leicester's "little India" if you wish.
This is another video from our recent week long foodie "pilgrimage" visit we made to Leicester (in Oct 2018) especially to record some of the most famous and popular food places there (some established many decades ago when East African Asians arrived in the UK having fled the Idi Amin regime) some of the East Africa Asians settled in the streets in and around the Belgrave road and Melton Road area (a stretch of road affectionately known as the " Golden Mile").
Most if not all of the restaurants here are very homely and welcoming and it really does not feel like you are eating in an unfamiliar café or restaurant but more like eating at a friend or relatives place.
