On 29th May, 2025, we invited staff, students, partners and industry to our Inaugural Innovate, Collaborate, Engage: Trinity School of Engineering Research & Innovation Showcase to see some of the exciting work being undertaken within the school. This event featured presentations from Postdoctoral and PhD researchers, and showcased design projects at all levels within the school.
One such researcher is Dr Deirdre O'Regan, a Postdoctoral Researcher. In this video, Dr O’Regan shares a snapshot of her research titled “An AI Teaching Assistant (AI-TA) for Motion Picture Engineering”. This project was to produce an AI Teaching assistant, specifically designed for Motion Picture Engineering students. Funded by the HEA Human Capital Initiative (HCI) Computational and Data-Centric Engineering Programme, the goal of the project was to understand whether this AI-TA would benefit students in a meaningful way versus existing commercial Large Language Models (e.g. ChatGPT).
