コロナ禍でアートやもの作りの世界でも、これまでの創作の営みや交流が制限されるようになりました。そんな中、ゲーテ・インスティトゥート大阪・京都とCOS KYOTO/Design Week Kyotoは、日独のアーティストと職人が時間と距離を越え、互いの仕事を紹介し合うプロジェクト「オンライン工房」を始めました。様々な分野の作品・工芸品の創作現場（工房）に目を向け、その多様なコンセプトと技法、クリエイターたちの交流の様子を、工房からライブ配信でお届けします。7回目は、京都で江戸後期（約200年前）より金属工芸を営む竹影堂を取りあげます。手作業での製造にこだわり、金銀銅をはじめとする金属素材を中心に、茶道具・仏具・香道具など幅広く製作するほか、修復・修繕も手掛ける竹影堂。その繊細な彫金技術をオンラインならではの精密さでご覧いただけます。

Online Kobo offers insights into the artistic, technical and conceptual work of artists and craftspeople in Japan and Germany. We plan to present various fields of work in cooperation with COS KYOTO, organizer of Design Week Kyoto.
In the seventh episode we introduce the master art foundry Chikueidou, which is highly recognized in Kyoto for more than two centuries. Since its foundation, Chikueidou’s artistic metal crafts focus on handicraft and produce metal tools out of gold, silver or bronze for various purposes, e.g. for the tea ceremony and for incenses as well as buddhist altar utensils. Furthermore the superb techniques of these artistic metal crafts are used for restoration and repair works. Through the camera zoom within the streaming, you will be able to experience the engravings like never before.
