School district calls low attendance "startling, disappointing and pathetic"

Описание: The Beaumont ISD superintendent released year-to-date attendance figures during Thursday night's board meeting, expressing concern that on average, about 9 percent of students are absent at any given time, equating to a likely loss in state aid and lost learning opportunities.

Taking it all in was the newly-appointed TEA conservator, Andrew Kim, introduced by Dr. Shannon Allen during the meeting.

Dr. Allen's presentation to trustees indicated the 2025-2026 year-to-date attendance figure is 91.2%, down slightly from 91.4% in the 2024-2025 school year.
