Evil West’s combat system is satisfying most of the time, allowing you to wield a wide variety of skills and weaponry to take down your hellish foes. However, the game is not without its flaws. One notable drawback is its occasionally unresponsive controls, which can prove frustrating during critical moments. Furthermore, some enemy attacks can be brutally challenging to predict and evade, adding to the game's overall difficulty. While the constant challenge keeps you engaged, it may occasionally border on feeling unfair. Also, you're gonna get sucker-punched off-screen all the time. The game tries to help with an off-screen attach indicator like the new “God of War" games, but they forgot the convenient 'quick turn' option that could save you in tight spots. The game does not offer custom controller configuration. Once you are used to the weird default button config, the combat feels really satisfying. You will be constantly thrown into a series of battles against mobs of mini-bosses. Your 'build,' which includes your character & weapon abilities, has a profound impact on the game's difficulty. A small change can mean the difference between smooth progression and potential frustration leading to quitting. Took about 30hrs to platinum the game.
