Commentary written by J.R. Allan (Author of "Farmer's Boy). Views of Edinburgh. Princes Street. Princes Gardens. Memorial. Young adventurers setting out to discover countryside. Four youngsters board a train. One has a knapsack, another a dog on a lead. They climb stairs of a station then walk in the woods by Bryman (?). Landscape with waterfalls and streams. Loch Catherine (?). Loch Lomond. Views of mountains, seascapes, ploughing. Following footsteps of Burns. Countryside. Bridges. Fishing for pearls from mussels. Dairy cows. Horse riding. The ramblers ask if they can watch the milking. Farmer with broad Scottish accent. The youngsters go into the milking shed. Shots of cows and mechanical milking machine. One cow is hand milked.
Girl drinks a glass of milk. Filling milk churns. Milk being passed over a cooler then put into bottles. Utensils are washed and sterilised. The cans are loaded on to the back of a truck. Young man runs after truck and jumps on back. Churns arrive at the depot. A sample is tested. Testing equipment. Milk is cooled over pipes of ice cold water. The bottling machine is seen. Bottle of milk is taken off a dresser. Family sitting down to breakfast. Glasses of milk are poured. Children drink milk and a saucer of milk is given to dog. Our young adventurers stop at the Milk Bar at the station. They look at the milkshake menu. They have milkshakes and the dog has milk. Girls working in factories and men in foundry take milk breaks. They all smile and drink milk through straws. Men and women working in the fields have a milk break. Tommy Walker - footballer - and rest of his team drink milk. School children collect bottles of milk then sit at their desk and drink them. Children march through a field. Scottish flag flying.
