The month of Ramadan is of special importance in Iran, as in other Islamic countries.

Iranian Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to sunset.
Iftar (the meal after sunset) and Suhoor (the meal before dawn) are the most important parts of this month. In Iran, iftar usually begins with dates, bread, cheese, vegetables, and tea, followed by the main course. Dishes such as ash, haleem, and shale-zard are also very popular during this month.
During this month, Quran recitation ceremonies, prayers, and congregational prayers, especially Taraweeh prayers, are held in mosques. Also, the *Nights of Power* (the nights of 19, 21, and 23 of Ramadan) are of particular importance, and many people spend these nights in worship and prayer.
At the end of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr is celebrated. It is one of the most important Islamic holidays, and people attend Eid al-Fitr prayers and celebrate with family and friends.
During Ramadan, it is very important to respect those who are fasting. For this reason, restaurants and cafes are usually closed during the day or only serve non-fasting customers
