Today's train journey is from Hakodate to Sapporo in Hokkaido by Ltd. Express Train of "Hokuto".
This Hokuto is one of symbolic trains JR Hokkaido area and frequently be operated between these cities in Hokkaido through Hakodate, Muroran, and Chitose Lines.
Because the most part of Hakodate Line is nor electrified, the rolling stock of Hokuto is diesel, Kiha-261 series (Kiha is for a diesel train car in Japanese).
It takes about 4 hours stopping at some stations like Oshamanbe, Higashi-Muroran, Tomakomai, etc. As Hokkaido Shinkansen is now until Hakodate (Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto), this train is still an important runner in Hokkaido connecting Central and Southern parts of Hokkaido.
