Описание: This isn't just an altar, it's our family's story! 😭❤️ Join us on Cooking Cabo for the MOST SPECIAL and emotional episode of the year.

Chefs Issi and Carolina, along with their cousin Karina, open the doors of their family restaurant in Cabo San Lucas to share the building of their Day of the Dead altar.

More than just a simple decoration, this altar is a personal tribute to honor the loved ones who have helped and supported them, those who are the "pillars" of their family.

Ever wondered what EACH element means? 🤔 We're telling you EVERYTHING!

Discover the ancestral secrets hidden in the altar:

Altar Levels: Representing the different dimensions, like heaven and the underworld.

Papel Picado (Colorful Paper): Symbolizes the wind and the fragility of life.

Candles: They light the path for the spirits to find their way back home.

Cempasúchil Flowers (Marigolds): Used to create a path that guides the souls directly to the altar.

The Dog (Xoloitzcuintle): According to the pre-Hispanic worldview, this is the guide that helps you cross the bridge to the next life.

Pan de Muertos (Bread of the Dead): It's not just bread! Its round shape represents the circle of life. The "huesitos" (little bones) represent the remains of our loved ones, and the small ball on top symbolizes a skull or heart.

Calaveras (Skulls): Did you know their origin was satirical? They were a cartoon by José Guadalupe Posada to mock those who pretended to be European.

Sugar Skulls: They symbolize that death doesn't have to be bitter—it can be sweet and joyful!

Water: Essential to quench the spirits' thirst after their long journey.

Salt: An element of purification for the soul.

Copal or Incense: The sacred smoke that guides the spirits back home.

This episode is a tribute to life, legacy, and the love that never dies.
